Image header that reads "Soundtrack"

Andrew Hains is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, classically trained and inspired by ambient music and modern electronic soundtracks. The Glass Darkly's soundtrack is made of live acoustic instruments, mostly viola and cello. The majority of the soundtrack is performed and improvised directly into the episode file, and produced with distortion effects. There are more significant tracks that stand on their own, though, and they'll surface here as each episode uncovers them.

About the show

The Glass Darkly is a mystery horror podcast about Jason Kaida, whose life is disrupted by a cursed mirror that keeps reappearing in his apartment. His obsession with investigating it will lead him deep into a web of possession, doppelgangers, secret societies, and the fracturing of reality itself. The show features an all-queer cast and crew, and an original live ambient score. It’s set in Seattle and the surrounding area, right where the creator and several cast members grew up. The Glass Darkly is grounded in our world, but frequently ventures out of the familiar and into the surreal. It grapples with themes of humanity, connection, queerness, religion, and what it means to become unrecognizable to oneself.Made by Sunbroken Productions, the show is written, directed, produced, and scored by Andrew Hains (they/them) and co-directed by Jonah Ruiz Lopez (he/they). Andrew Hains is the creative mind behind Sunbroken Productions. Usually a composer, writer, and artist, this is their first audio drama production. Hains is inspired by the places in our world where the veil is thinnest and things aren’t quite what they should be, and they use distorted pieces of live viola and cello to bring The Glass Darkly vividly to life.
